Quartz and silica, metallurgical-grade silicon, 8–9N high-purity silicon and solar-grade polysilicon are defined as four grades of a single value chain.
Our product programme follows the stages of our value chain. It begins with quartz and silica classified for high-purity silicon production. Metallurgical-grade silicon, obtained by carbothermic reduction, is the feedstock for the refining stages that follow.
High-purity silicon, in which impurities are reduced to parts-per-billion levels by chemical refining, targets the 8–9N purity range. The final grade, polycrystalline silicon, is the raw material for monocrystalline ingot and wafer production.
